well, the service people got the scoot done on time and as i stated, cost nothing. turns out the leak was higher than i thought and the oil just travelled down and back to the rear tires. they replaced the bolts/seals and put more sealant on the area, put the 250 on the dyno to replicate highway speed and all seems well. i have no leaks and the rear tire just has brake dust on it, yea! anyway, finding that more people are getting interested in the scooters for transpo to work and errands. if i could find a way for the media to showcase me on a weekly basis for gas consumption, riding safely and getting more people out on the streets of phoenix on a scooter that would be great. or even better, get some of the local companies, hospitals anywhere there are lots of people working at the same location and run a scooter clinic/class with the help of some scooter shops. any thoughts? later.

wow, been getting some oil leaks lately at the 700-1000mi mark. looks like some small bolts that secure the right side of the engine which have a seal have failed. i already had one replaced, so now i need three or four replaced. it is getting warm now and i have been driving on the freeway a lot at 75-80mph so that might have something to do with it. the oil leaks and flows to the back of the rear wheel area and makes a mess. i get one or two small drops on the ground and thats it. other than that, the scoot runs well. the service guys at the local vespa shop need some customer service help in the fact that their skills need some improving. the bmw dealer is attached to them and their customer service is awesome. i had to find someone after waiting around the vespa store for 15min before i had to go find someone next door at the bmw store to help me. my other option would be to go far away to get service so i am stuck i guess. oh well, cant wait to find out what they come up with...best thing is i dont pay-warranty work. later.

the new scoot

hey all, back in march i acquired a new scooter, a vespa 250. this is the bomb! it will do almost 90mph and is rock solid. riding on the freeway can be a little annoying due to the wind, especially if it is real windy already. i have to get into a semi tuck to make myself more aero. the looks i get are priceless when they see a person on a scoot on the freeway doing 75mph. i love the challenge of negotiating traffic when i have to head downtown in the morning or coming through the afternoon jams. when i approach a light and the cars are 20-30 deep or more they are generally stopped. i slow way down and creep between the cars up to the front(the scoot is narrow enough) and wait for the light to turn green and take off. sometimes i wont make it all the way because the light turned green and i just fall in behind a car and go. i am sure this pisses some people off but i am away and up the road before they know it. i feel so good riding and dont stress about things like i do driving a car. in thick traffic, the scoot shines because i can just get around everything. when i need to go, i'm gone. i dont think the cops want anything to do with me unless i do something blatant in front of them and speeding is never an issue plus no photo radar problems. the scoot has 2gal and i got 140mi on one tank but that is with some slightly aggressive riding. i am sure i could get a bit better milage with some toned down riding but the freeway rides eat the gas a little quicker when it has to fight the wind. when the air is still or i have a tail/side tail wind it feels much better and i dont feel the blast so much. well, thats it for now...later.

hi, i am new to this blogging thing and it seems that this is the only way to show some of those people out there in phoenix that a scooter, especially for short trips to work and shopping is both fun and a good mental break. i will try to post once a week to replay the weeks happenings and some video/photos. more later...OUT.
